Next up is this rare Belgian movie poster from the first release of George Cukor's classic psychological thriller,
Gaslight
. A remake of an earlier British production, this film was nominated for seven Academy Awards including a Best Actress winning Oscar for Bergman.
Please note:
This poster is from the original first release of the film soon after the end of the war in Europe (probably 1946 or early 1947). It is printed on the reverse of an ordnance map which was the usual practice immediately after WWII in order to conserve paper. There are other posters from a later release in the early to
mid-Fifties
that use the same artwork, but they have
MGM Presente
printed in the top left border. This is most definitely from the rarer first release. This 1st release poster rarely comes up for sale or auction and would make a great addition to your classic movie poster collection.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN/SIZE: Belgium  14.5" x 19"
CONDITION:
Very Good trimmed condition. Top white border is partially trimmed. Staple holes and stains in top border. Remnants of a diagonal crease and a paper pull where a tax stamp was once affixed in the lower right corner. Slight overall yellowing to the paper.  Artwork completely intact. Originally folded in half as issued, this poster has been stored flat for the past 25 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube or box.
