Here is a rare original Belgian movie poster from the first re-release of Clarence Brown's historical drama,
Conquest

. Boyer starred as Napoleon Bonaparte with Garbo as his mistress Polish Countess Marie Walewska who worked to influence his actions toward her homeland. The massive budget of this epic film was unfortunately not recouped at the box office despite glowing reviews. This poster is from the first rerelease of the
movie in Belgium after the end of the war in Europe, probably 1946 or early 1947.  It is printed on the back of a war era ordnance map and in the smaller, immediate post-war format. The beautiful
artwork is the same as that used in the original 1937 release Belgian poster. This re-release poster seldom comes up for sale or auction.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN/SIZE: Belgium  11" x 14.5"
CONDITION:
Very Good Trimmed Folded Condition. Partially trimmed top white border with remnants of a former theater exhibition snipe. A few pinholes in the surrounding white borders. Some staining/markings in the white borders not affecting the artwork. Printed on the reverse of a map. Slight discoloration of white paper. Artwork completely intact. Folded in half as originally issued, this poster has been stored flat for the past 18 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube.
